Volunteering at Sembrando Paz y Esperanza as an English teacher for two months was both challenging and fulfilling. As a digital nomad, I balanced my remote work during the day and taught English classes in the late afternoon. My routine was well-structured: mornings were for my freelance projects, and from 4 PM onwards, I focused on conversational English classes. The students were eager to learn, and it was amazing to see their progress. Building connections with them was incredibly rewarding, and I often stayed after class to chat about their dreams and ambitions. Immersing myself in the local culture meant I didn’t need formal Spanish lessons—I naturally picked up phrases and expressions just by being present. This experience not only honed my teaching skills but also gave me a profound sense of purpose and belonging.
